Jaswant Singh Meets Vajpayee

Continuing to rule headlines on what was an excruciatingly slow news day; expelled Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh on Sunday called on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and later claimed to have earned the blessings of his senior colleague.

“After returning from Shimla this is the first time I’ve met him (Vajpayee.) I went to wish him on Ganesh Chaturthi, inquire about his health and seek his blessings. I have his blessings now,” Singh said while interacting with the media at the gates of Vajpayee’s Krishna Menon Marg residence in New Delhi.

Singh, considered close to the former prime minister, said this was his first meeting with the patriarch since his ouster from the BJP, but refused to divulge details of the meeting.

Singh has been in the eye of a raging political storm since the publication of his controversial book on Pakistan founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah, led to his expulsion from the saffron party Wednesday last.
