Gunbattle On between Militants, Security Forces in Kashmir

A gunfight has started between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of South Kashmir, said media reports.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Kifayat Hyder said that acting on a tip-off that militants were hiding in a house in Shankerpora, situated some 40 km from Srinagar, police along with security forces, cordoned the village late last night, said reports.

Hyder said that militants opened indiscriminate fire around 8.45 am as the joint search arty launched combing operation, said reports.

Search party retuned fire and the gunfight was still going on, he said.
