Rs. 69 crore scholarships to about 21 lakh SC girl students

Bhopal: Scholarships worth Rs. 68 crore 91 lakh was provided to about 20 lakh 87 thousand scheduled caste girl students upto class X in the state last year. Scheduled Castes Welfare Department has made initial provision of Rs. 50 crore for this scholarship in year 2013-14 budget.

The department has distributed scholarship worth Rs. 12 crore 19 lakh to 7 lakh 52 thousand girl students upto class 5th and Rs. 56 crore 72 lakh to 13 lakh 35 thousand girl students of class 6th to 10th. The State Government has abolished income limit for getting scholarship. Minister of State for Scheduled Castes Welfare Shri Harishankar Khatik has directed departmental officers to get cent percent scheduled caste girls admitted in schools in new academic session.
