Shraddha Nidhis benefit to wife also: Rajendra Shukla

Bhopal. Public Relations and Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has said that rules of Shraddha Nidhi for senior journalists are being amended. Now, benefit of Shraddha Nidhi will also be given to wife after death of a senior journalist. Shri Shukla chaired a departmental advisory committee meeting here today. MLA Members of the committee Shri Ashok Ishwardas Rohani, Shri Sunderalal Tiwari, Shri Ramesh Mendola and Shri Kalyan Singh Thakur attended the meeting.

Minister Shri Shukla informed that from current year, state level television journalists and cameramen have also been included under journalism awards. Presently, 3 national and state level awards each and 7 regional awards are being conferred for excellence in journalism. He said that the state government will make every possible effort for welfare of regional journalists. Shri Shukla informed that workshops upto tahasil level journalists have been held where MPs and local public representatives were invited. Similar workshops will also be held during year 2016-17.

Principal Secretary Public Relations Shri S.K. Mishra presented action taken report of departmental advisory committee. He informed that Public Relations Department has undertaken a widespread campaign to publicise Public Services Delivery Guarantee Act. Besides, impressive material has also been published. Increase in Rs. 5000 Shraddha Nidhi for journalists has been proposed.

Committee members urged the department for necessary action to protect economic interests of regional journalists. Commissioner Public Relations Shri Anupam Rajan proposed a vote of thanks. Director Public Relations Shri Anil Mathur and senior departmental officers attended the meeting.
