New Delhi: Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday reached New Delhi with an aim to get military assistance from India which is most likely to be reciprocated to in affirmative.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with President Ghani and host a lunch for the visiting President as well. To recall, Afghanistan has been looking to enhance its defence supplies and modern weapons with help from India.
Announcing the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs said the discussions between President Ghani and PM Modi would cover a wide range of issues of mutual interests.
“The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to continue the close and frequent consultations between the two friendly neighbours, including at the highest level”.
“Such interaction is the hallmark of their strategic partnership and has guided the strengthening of all-round cooperation between the two countries,” the ministry had said in a statement on Saturday.
