Toll Soars up to 800 in Chile Quake
The death toll in the 8.8-magnitude Chile earthquake has now soared up to 800, said media reports.
Besides, emergency workers said that 19 people were still unaccounted for, said reports.
Pledging strict action on renewal of looting and violence, Chile’s president appealed for calm in the quake-hit city of Concepcion, said reports.
Reports said that more than 14,000 troops are in the region following arrest of dozens of people on Monday.
Reports said quoting a BBC reporter in Concepcion that police were now posted on street corners in the city centre, but aid convoys were yet to reach the needy.
