Arrangements for breastfeeding of newborns at railway stations laudable : W&CD Minister Maya Singh  

Bhopal : Women and Child Development Minister Maya Singh has hailed the provision for arrangements of breastfeeding newborns at railway stations and trains announced in the railway budget presented in Lok Sabha today and expressed gratitude towards Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for this. It is noteworthy that Maya Singh had urged the Railway Minister through a letter to set up breastfeeding corners. She described railway budget as best till date in terms of facilities, security and safety. For this, she expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Singh said that special attention has been paid to facilities of women passengers in the railway budget. Helpline 182 round-the-clock, installation of CC TV cameras and 33 percent quota in ticket reservation will be a major relief for women.

She said that introduction of unreserved super fast train Antyodaya Express and ‘Astha’ train for centres of pilgrimage will benefit a large chunk of county’s common population. She expressed happiness over 50 percent increase in reservation quota for senior citizens and reserving 120 lower berths for senior citizens in every train. The Minister welcomed announcement made in the railway budget to make Habibganj station of the state capital as the model station of the country. She described as good initiative to change nomenclature ‘coollie’ to ‘passengers assistant’ and decision to change their uniform.
