BJP MLA Kamal Patel Arrested by CBI for Destroying Evidence

In connection with destroying evidence in a murder case in which his son’s name figured, BJP MLA from Harda constituency Kamal Patel has been taken into custody by the CBI, said media reports quoting officials.

Patel, a former minister who was arrested last night, was interrogated by the CBI prior to his arrest, said reports.

He would be produced later in the day in the CBI court at Indore where he would file his bail plea, reports said.

On March 5, 2008, Patel’s son Sudeep had gone with his friends to a farm house belonging to Congress leader, Rajendra Patel at Deotalao where an altercation took place, killing one Durgesh Jaat.

Sudeep was later arrested and was then released on bail.
