Our efforts are that discussions are held on all issues: Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Winter Session

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gave a speech ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament and stressed on the road ahead. PM Modi said that this session was important as many issues pertaining to public interest would be taken up in the House.

The statement came in the backdrop of the counting of votes for the Assembly Elections in five states but the PM made sure that his speech concentrated on the road ahead for the country. ANI quoted the PM saying, “I have faith that all the members of the Parliament will respect this sentiment and move ahead. Our efforts are that discussions are held on all issues.”

The biggest challenges for the government in this session of Parliament would be to find consensus among all parties so that some key decisions can be taken. The bills that are most likely to be introduced are The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which aims to enable the Indian voters overseas to cast their vote as well. This can have big implications in the upcoming elections.

The second bill that might see the light of the day is The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017 that will help in addressing issues of road security. It was passed by the Lok Sabha but has been facing some resistance in the Rajya Sabha.
