Light metro to run in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur

Bhopal: Light metro will be run in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur under mass rapid transit system. Detailed project report of metro is being prepared. This was informed through a presentation by Urban Administration and Development Department regarding mass rapid transit system before Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today. urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that all pratical aspects of the project should be examined thoroughly. Apart form fixing metro route in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur, aspects related to the project should be investigated in advance. He directed that in the detailed project report, possibilities of extending the project in nearby areas in future should also be considered. Suggestions should be given about financial and managerial arrangements of the project. Detailed project report should be chalked out in integrated way and implemented in phases.
During the presentation on mass rapid transit system at Chief Minster’s residence, information was given about project costs of heavy metro, mono rail, advance tramway and light metro apart from their financial, administrative and technical practicability. The presentation also demonstrated comparative usefulness of light metro in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore.
Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretaries Shri S.N. Mishra, Shri S.K. Mishra, Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Shri Sanjay Shukla and other officers were present on the occasion.
