Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi is readying up for the launch of its upcoming entry-level Xiaomi Redmi 7A in the Indian market. There have been a number of teasers which have been posted online and in the latest series, the Xiaomi Redmi 7A has been tipped to arrive in the Indian market with a massive feature upgrade.

In a tweet posted by Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain, the Redmi 7A will reportedly get a massive feature upgrade in the Indian market. It is unclear on as to what the upgrade will be, but the tweet hinted at feature similarities in the Mi A2 and the recently launched Redmi Note 7 as well.

Earlier, the announcement of the phone coming to India was made by company India head, Manu Kumar Jain, who took to Twitter to announce that the Redmi 7A will succeed the company’s Redmi 6A smartphone in the Indian market. Redmi 6A is a highly popular phone and currently retails at a starting price of Rs. 5,999.

The phone once launched is expected to come sporting a similar price tag. In China, the Redmi 7A comes sporting a price tag of CNY 549 (roughly Rs. 5,500) for the 2GB + 16GB variant, while the 2GB + 32GB variant sports a price tag of CNY 599 (roughly Rs. 6,000).

The Redmi 7A features a 5.45-inch HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 720×1440 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is tipped to sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor that is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of storage. It runs on Android 9 Pie operating the software with MIUI 10 on top. However, in light of the recent tweet regarding similarities between the 7A, Note 7, and the Mi A2, we are assuming it could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset.

In terms of the imaging capabilities, the Redmi 7A gets a 13-megapixel primary rear shooter while at the front the phone has a 5-megapixel sensor. Additionally, the phone packs a 4000mAh battery capacity and comes with P2i splash-resistant coating. For connectivity, it gets a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, and a Micro-USB port.
