India Will Examine Pak’s Request on Kasab: Krishna

Responding to Pakistan’s request seeking the testimony of Indian officials who recorded Amir Ajmal Kasab’s confessional statement, India has said that it will examine the plea after legal formalities end in Kasab’s trial, said media reports.

“We have to complete our legal formalities first and then we can examine Pakistan’s request,” External Affairs Minister SM Krishna was quoted as saying.

He made the statement while responding to Pakistan’s plea for three Indian officials, two magistrates and an investigator, to testify in Pakistan that they recorded Kasab’s statement.

The minister said that the request would be examined with other ministries and departments and that he on Sunday night received the dossier from Pakistan but could not go through it due to lack of time, reports said.

Last night, Pakistan handed over six dossiers to India, including a request to hand over 26/11 terrorists Kasab and Fahim Ansari.
