Ensure cent percent utilisation of National Health Mission

Bhopal: Public Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra reviewed departmental activities and sought information about 100-day action plan. Directing to ensure cent percent utilisation of National Health Mission’s budget, he expressed happiness over remarkable reduction of 47 points in maternal mortality rate and Madhya Pradesh becoming the first state to implement Health Services Delivery Guarantee Scheme. Principal Secretary Shri Praveer Krishna, Secretary Smt. Suraj Damor, Commissioner Shri Pankaj Agrawal, Director National Health Mission Smt. M. Geeta and other departmental officers were present on the occasion.

Minister Dr. Mishra said that nursing colleges and schools in the state should be inspected and their condition analysed as per prescribed norms. He directed to ensure strict action against the nursing colleges and schools not conforming to rules and quality standard laid down by the state government. He directed to make separate arrangements for appointment of doctors in rural areas.

Expressing happiness over reduction in maternal mortality rate in the state from 277 to 230, Dr. Mishra hoped to reduce it further to 100 in the days to come. He said that as per wish of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, doctors should be imparted adequate training for follow-up care of cancer patients in district hospitals.

Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra directed to provide information about Ayush camps to be held in future.

Principal Secretary Shri Praveer Krishna informed that Gram Prahari teams will start functioning to make available health services in villages under Maternal and Infant Security Programme and National Disease Control Programme.

Commissioner Health Shri Pankaj Agrawal informed that free medicines are being distributed in government hospitals. Process for tender etc. will be completed before March to continue the scheme without a break. Necessary equipments will also be made available to hospitals by January.

State Director of National Health Mission Smt. M Geeta informed that now National Rural Health Mission will be known as National Health Mission. She informed that all stakeholders of the Mission working in rural areas will now work in urban areas also. Special attention will be paid to strengthening of maternal and infant health. She informed that a team comprising 2 doctors and 4 members will operate for implementing National Child Health Programme at the block-level. The teams will be entrusted with the responsibility to examine health of all children at angwanwadi centres and schools and giving medicines. She informed that family welfare has been linked with maternal health. This year, 40 thousand more family planning operations than the target were performed in the state. “Prerna Abhiyan” has been launched for family planning while enumerating importance of women’s health.

Giving information about Medical Education Department, Gandhi Medical College’s Dean Dr. Nirbhay Shrivastava informed that there are 800 graduation and 496 post-graduation seats in states 6 government medical colleges. As compared to past, 80 graduation and 43 post-graduation seats have been increased. He informed that state’s 6 private medical colleges have 900 graduation and 225 post-graduation seats. There are 7 government nursing colleges with 294 graduation and 10 post graduation seats and 431 private nursing colleges with 16 thousand 886 graduation and 396 post-graduation seats. He informed that new government medical colleges are proposed at Ratlam, Vidisha and Shahdol apart from 11 medical college in private sector.

Commissioner Ayush Shri M.K. Varshney informed that there are 1773 Ayush hospitals in the state. Besides, 7 Ayush colleges are being upgraded. A composite hostel building is being constructed on the premises of Bhopal’s Ayurvedic Homoeopathy and Unani Medical College. He informed that Ayush treatment has been provided to one crore 24 lakh 8507 patients. As many as 14 thousand 150 camps were held in areas not having health facilities where 13 lakh 61 thousand 595 patients were treated.

Deputy Secretary Gas Relief Shri K.K. Dube informed that 897 houses are being constructed at village Palasi for houseless gas-affected people.
