Virat Kohli’s demands for ICC World Cup 2019: A reserved rail coach, WAGs for full tour, specific fruits
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has put forward a list of demands on behalf of the team to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) in a review meeting which was held recently in Hyderabad. After India’s dismal tour to England earlier this year, considering that the next World Cup will be hosted by England, Kohli has demanded for a separate reserved rail coach for the Indian team. The Indian captain has also asked the CoA to allow Wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of the cricketers for the full tour.
According to sources, the Indian captain also asked for specific fruits to be provided to the players citing England doesn’t give the players fruits of their choice, especially bananas. Here’s how the CoA reacted to Kohli’s demands.
Reserved rail coach: The Vinod Rai-led panel is of the view that the demand can be met only if the security aspects fall into place, in the absence of which it would be a clear cut no.
Wags for full World Cup: CoA responded to this demand by saying that it will be considered only if all the members of India’s World Cup squad want their wives and girlfriends to be with them for the entire tournament. CoA opined that if some of the cricketers weren’t in the favour of the decision, it would not be considered.

Specific fruits: The CoA said that it could be looked into but they will have to see viability. Kohli told the CoA that players weren’t provided with specific fruits when they toured England earlier this year, especially bananas.
In their tour to England earlier this year, the Indian team played five Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. While England convincingly won the Test series 4-1, India won the T20I series 2-1 while the Three Lions sealed the ODI series 2-1 in their favour.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be played in England from May 30 to July 14. Cricket’s biggest extravaganza will feature 48 matches. Men in Blue will kick off their campaign against South Africa at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. India are two-time World Cup champions having won the quadrennial event under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni n 1983 and 2011 respectively.
