Shivraj to urge Centre again for Kanera irrigation project

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that appeal will be reiterated with the Union Government for sanction to Kanera irrigation project. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing farmers from Ater Vidhan Sabha constituency of Bhind district at his residence here today. Ater MLA Shri Arvind Bhadauria was also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that efforts will be made to reach out maximum benefit of irrigation projects to farmers. The State Government had sanctioned Kaner project of about 15 thousand hectare irrigation potential and had also earmarked necessary budget for it. The Union Forest & Environment Ministry has not given it clearance. He informed that a similar project has been sanctioned by the Union Government at Dhaulpur in Rajasthan. Appeal to this effect is being made constantly to the Union Government. Appeal will be made to the Centre by taking a delegation of farmers to Delhi. Shri Chouhan said that farmers of the area will be supplied water through canals under Chambal Project.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed to examine demand of construction of a bridge over Chambal River near Ater and college over there. He said that every possible effort will be made for development of Ater area.
