Kevin Pietersen disagrees with Sanjay Manjrekar’s ‘perfect IPL bowler’ verdict of Windies star

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Shimron Hetmyer has already made a case for himself with a splendid ton in the first ODI but he isn’t the only Windies star in focus ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 auction. India skipper Virat Kohli’s duels with West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams have been making headlines throughout the series and some are also of the opinion that RCB should rope in the latter in Thursday’s auction.

The talks of which players should franchises target to strengthen their case for the 13th season of the IPL have been doing rounds on social media. Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar is of a strong opinion that Williams could be a good buy for the franchises. As reactions kept coming in, Kevin Pietersen also had his say on the subject.

“Go for Kesrick Williams guys. Perfect bowler for IPL conditions,” Manjrekar tweeted. After a fan asked RCB to go for the Windies pacer, KP didn’t shy away from expressing his disagreement.

RCB are expected to one of the busiest in the IPL auction considering they had released as many as 12 players ahead of the new season. The likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Tim Southee, Colin de Grandomme were all released in back in the pool, with the franchise freeing up 27.90 crores for the auction in Kolkata.

The lack of quality seamers in the team is an issue and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Williams is actually considered by the RCB management. Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Siraj and Navdeep Saini are the available speedsters in the squad and the roster is in desperate need of adding one or two quality overseas pacers.

As for Williams, he picked up three wickets in three matches in the T20I series against India which is the joint-most alongside Sheldon Cottrell, Kary Pierre and Deepak Chahar. Williams is a popluar player in the Carribean Premier League (CPL), especially for his ‘notebook-ticking’ celebration. Havin dismissed Kohli in the recently-concluded T20I series once, he could be on multiple franchises’ radar in the auction.
