IPL Points Table 2019, Standings, ranking, orange cap, purple cap after DC vs MI match

A battle in the top half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday saw Mumbai Indians get the better of Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Delhi’s inability to win games at the trick Kotla surface continues to remain a problem while for Mumbai, six wins in 9 matches take them to second spot in the points table, behind leaders Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Rahul Chahar emerged as the hero for MI, bagging three important wickets while Hardik Pandya produced another great all-round show to take the Man of the Match award. Skipper Rohit Sharma was specifically full of praise for Rahul in the post-match presentation, lauding him for the dismissals of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer.

“Rahul Chahar was there with us last year, we wanted to get him in even last year where Mayank was playing, but we couldn’t do that. He has a great attitude and is clear with what he wants to do and is smart with them. The breakthroughs he gave in the middle were very crucial. They had left-handers and Rahul was confident to bowl to left-handers, which is what he told me at the start; if you give him confidence as a captain he will deliver,” said Rohit.

Updated Points Table:

CSK remain at top of the team standings with 7 wins from 9 matches. DC and MI were level on points heading into IPL Match 34 but Rohit Sharma’s men go second with 12 points in 9 matches while Shreyas Iyer’s side drops down one place at third with 10 points in 9 games. Kings XI Punjab remain fourth.

Orange Cap Table:

No change at the top of the charts as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner continue to rule the charts for batsmen, with 450 runs from 8 matches. Kings XI Punjab opening batsman KL Rahul slots second with 387 runs from 9 matches. SRH’s Jonny Bairstow comes in third with 365 runs while Chris Gayle and Quinton de Kock complete the top 5 with 352 and 313 runs respectively.

Purple Cap Table:

With two more wickets to his name against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals speedster Kagiso Rabada tops the charts for bowlers with 19 wickets in 9 matches. Chennai Super Kings’ Imran Tahir comes in second with 15 wickets from 9 matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Yuzvendra Chahal finds himself third with 13 scalps in 8 matches while Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar complete the top 5 with 12 and 11 dismissals respectively.
