Workshop on womens nutrition and health in SC, ST areas
Bhopal. A workshop on women’s nutrition and health in SC, ST areas of the state was held at Academy of Administration under the aegis of Women’s Resource Centre and the Academy here today. It was inaugurated by Academy’s DG Smt. Kanchan Jain. Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Shri J.N. Kansotiya presided over the workshop. Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Smt. Jaishri Kiyawat was also present on the occasion.
Speakers at the workshop laid emphasis on identifying nutrition and health problems pertaining to SC, ST women and implemented a strategy to remove them. Director of the Academy Shri Sachin Sinha informed about status of Madhya Pradesh regarding Millennium Development Goal. Manager of Tejaswini programme Dr. Rachna Gupta, nutrition expert Dr. Amita Singh, Nutrition Officer Dr. Pushpa Awasthi, Deputy Director Health Dr. O.P. Tiwari and health specialist Dr. Vandana Bhatia identified problems pertaining to under-nutrition and over-nutrition and suggested treatment for them.
UNICEF’s Shri Anil Gulati said that special information and publicity material should be prepared in local dialects for SC and ST areas and their local-level examination should be made before preparation. Women’s Resources Centre in-charge Dr. Pragya Awasthi conducted the proceedings.
