Mamata, Cong Leaders Hold Another Round of Discussions

Resolution of the issue regarding sharing of Cabinet berths still seems complicated with Mamata Banerjee reportedly staking claim for five ministerial slots while the Congress struck a formula with DMK on the issue. For the purpose, leaders of the Congress and Trinamool Congress held another round of discussions to reach an understanding on the issue.

After her meeting with Congress leader AK Antony and Ahmed Patel, Banerjee said that it was for the Congress to decide on the issue of Cabinet berths. She was accompanied by Dinesh Trivedi and Mukul Roy in the meeting.

“We want our relations with Congress to remain good. It is their decision what they do. We have no demand,” she said.

“More important than the ministry is stable government that will work for agriculture and industry,” Banerjee said.

It should be mentioned that Banerjee had on Wednesday night met Patel to reach an understanding on the issue.

Trinamool, which won 19 Lok Sabha seats, is believed to be seeking at least two Cabinet berths and three slots of ministers of state.
