Van Mela successful event to hand over Ayurvedic heritage to next generation
Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Van Mela is a successful event to hand over Ayurvedic heritage to next generation. He said that it is successful effort to transfer thousands of years old Ayurvedic traditions nurtured by saints and seers with great devotion to the new generations. Shri Choiuhan was addressing concluding function of 5-day International Herbal Fair 2015 here today. The international fair on the theme ‘Use of Non-Wood Forest Produce for Human Welfare’ was held at Lal Parade Ground here.
The Chief Minister said that AYUSH and Forest departments should take joint initiative for research in Ayurvedic sector. Forests are treasure troves of medicines for human beings. Due to lack of research, they cannot be effectively used for human welfare. Madhya Pradesh should take lead in such initiative. He informed that Ayurveda doctors are also being deployed at primary health centres for treatment of patients through Ayurveda.
Shri Chouhan said that forests are boon for human beings. Forest and dwellers are complimentary to each other. We get lifesaving air, medicines and employment through forests. He said that 32 lakh people get seasonal employment in the state through tendupatta collection. Collection of chiraunji, gulli of muhua and seeds of karenj etc. are giving employment to large number of people. Forest Department has made praiseworthy initiative for employment generation. He said that national parks like those situated in biodiversity-rich Madhya Pradesh are not found anywhere else in the world. Now, tourism facility will be made available during rainy season also in buffer zones of National Wildlife Parks in the state. . lauding work of 15 thousand Forest Produce Committees in augmentation of forests, he said that they would also be felicitated.
The Chief Minister said that root cause of problems like global warming and cooling in the world is due to indiscriminate exploitation of nature. World is trying to find out solution of these problems now, whereas Indian Culture had revealed their solution thousands of years ago that nature should be tapped and not exploited. It means whatever is taken from nature, it should also be compensated.
Lauding holding of the event, the Chief Minister said that it would be improved further and made more useful in future. Shri Chouhan inspected over 100 stalls at the fair and reviewed arrangements. He distributed prizes to best private and government stalls in conduct and cooperation categories and released a souvenir.
Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar said that Ayuvedic medicines eradicate disease forever. Research is need to ensure that Ayurvedic medicines start their effect on body at the earliest. He said that Ayurveda and Allopathy are complimentary to each other. Ayurveda is significant in treatment of complicated and chronic diseases while Allopathy gives instant relief.
Chairman of Vanopaj Sangh Shri Manoj Kori threw light on federation’s activities. Principal Secretary Forests Shri Deepak Khandekar described arrangements of the fair worthy of emulation for other departments. Welcome address was delivered by MD of Small Forest Produce Board Shri Animesh Shukla. Additional Managing Director Shri O.P. Khare proposed a vote of thanks.
