Subsidy on Ujjwala cylinder increased from ₹ 200 to ₹ 300: Price of 14.2 kg cylinder in Bhopal is ₹ 608, in Delhi ₹ 603

On Wednesday, October 4, the Central Government announced to increase the subsidy on 14.2 kg LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme from Rs 200 to Rs 300. This cylinder was earlier available for Rs 708 with subsidy in Bhopal, now it will be available for Rs 608.

So far, more than 9.6 crore connections have been given in the country under the Ujjwala scheme. This scheme was launched on 1 May 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Rs 6,100 crore was spent on the subsidy of this scheme in the financial year 2022-23.

Prices were reduced by Rs 200 in August.
Earlier in August, just before Rakshabandhan, the government had reduced the prices of LPG cylinders by Rs 200. This cut was made for everyone. After this cut, the price of non-subsidized cylinder in Bhopal reduced from Rs 1108.50 to Rs 903.50.

Necessary eligibility to apply for Ujjwala scheme

  • The applicant must be female.
  • The age of the woman should be above 18 years.
  • The woman should be from BPL family.
  • The woman should have BPL card and ration card.
  • LPG connection should not be in the name of any family member of the applicant.

Gas cylinder and stove are available for free.
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries are given free gas cylinder and gas stove for the first time. The subsidy received under the scheme is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. So far, more than 9.6 crore connections have been given in the country. In August, the Cabinet had approved adding 75 lakh more beneficiaries under the scheme.
