David Warner 21 runs away from becoming first player to score 3000 IPL runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have witnessed a topsy-turvy first half in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. SRH’s star opener David Warner has enjoyed a stellar run with the bat so far as the left-handed batter leads the Orange Cap race with as many as 400 runs to his name in just seven matches. Warner has four half-centuries and a ton under his belt and has looked unstoppable whenever he has taken the field. As his blazing form with the willow continues, Warner is just 21 runs away from becoming the first player to complete 3000 runs for SRH in IPL.

Warner has racked up as many as 2979 runs in 66 innings with a help of two centuries and 30 fifties and is likely to get past the 3000-run mark for SRH in IPL. Overall, the Aussie opener has 4414 runs to his name in IPL while playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and SRH, and has 40 half centuries and four tons in his account.

Warner’s scintillating run of form was rewarded as Cricket Australia (CA) named him in Australia’s 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Warner will be making a comeback for the Baggy Greens since being handed a one-year long suspension in March 2018 for his involvement in the infamous sandpaper-gate incident along with Steven Smith.

Meanwhile, IPL 2018 finalists – SRH – have lost three games on the trot and will be looking to end their winless run as they gear up to face table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Against CSK, Warner has scored 338 runs at a mere average of 28.16 including four half-centuries in 12 IPL innings. Whereas to SRH’s contrast, CSK have been on a four-match winning streak as they sit atop the points table with seven wins out of eight matches.
