Atal Jyoti Abhiyan launched in Ratlam district

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and MP Shri Nitin Gadkari launched Atal Jyoti Abhiyan for 24X7 power supply in Ratlam district today. With this, Ratlam became 8th district in the state to have this facility. On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that power generation capacity in the state was 2900 MW in the year 2003, which has been increased to 10 thousand 400 MW now. It will be increased to 14 thousand MW by the next year.
Shri Chouhan said that so far Rs. 11 thousand crore has been spent on Atal Jyoti Abhiyan. Now, farmers need not deposit electricity bills every month since they have been provided facility to deposit bills twice a year at the flat rate of Rs. 1200 per horsepower.
MP Shri Nitin Gadkari said that Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and his government have done the historic work of lightening up Madhya Pradesh through Atal Jyoti Abhiyan. Shri Gadkari said that excellent works have been undertaken in the state in power, drinking water, irrigation, transport and communications sectors.
Shri Nitin Gadkari said that the state’s agriculture growth rate is 18.9 percent. Madhya Pradesh has joined the rank of pioneer states. In Madhya Pradesh, Gross Domestic Production rate is 10.9 percent against the national average of 3.50 percent. The state has registered remarkable achievements in health, education, women’s empowerment, social justice, Beti Bachao Abhiyan and a number of other sectors.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced to open a medical college from government budget at Ratlam. The Chief Minister said that Ratlam will be developed as a cluster city of production of salty snacks. He announced Rs. 19 crore for Ratlam city’s development and Rs. one crore each for every Nagar Panchayat in the district.
At the function, Shri Chouhan administered pledge to people to contribute in making Madhya Pradesh a developed state. He said that budget under Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund has been increased from Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 60 crore. The Chief Minister informed people that lack of funds will not be allowed in development.
Shri Chouhan said that Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojna has been launched from April 1 for making jobless youths self-reliant. The State Government is also given higher education loan guarantee to students.
Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla informed that Atal Jyoti Abhiyan has been launched in 7 districts of the state so far. From today, people of 8th district Ratlam will also start receiving 24-hour power supply. Rs. 25 thousand crore has been spent on power generation and distribution in the state. The welcome address was delivered Minister of State for Urban Administration and Development Shri Manohar Untwal. At the outset, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and Shri Nitin Gadkari launched the Abhiyan 24X7 by clicking on a laptop.
Forest Ministers Shri Sartaj Singh, MLA Shri Paras Saklecha, ex-Minister Shri Himmat Kothari, ex-MP Shri Dilip Singh Bhuria and Shri Chaitnya Kashyap were also present on the occasion.
