Shaurya Dal – a scheme turning seemingly impossible into possible
Bhopal: Shaurya Dal Yojana to empower women and eradicate social evils implemented in 20 districts of the state has started changing the scenario there. This picture emerged during state level orientation workshop of Shaurya Dal held recently. A presentation on Shaurya Dals’ activities revealed that its members have turned seemingly impossible things into possible by ensuring prohibition, preventing child marriages and family break-ups, opening schools and hospitals on time and preventing trafficking of girls.
Shaurya Dal in Aliwara in Raisen district not only curbed distillation and sale of liquor in the village, but also de-addicted entire village. At Dehgaon village in the district, they counseled and re-united a couple living in estrangement for last 6 years. Some women involved in bad profession at Pathari and Ucher Gram Panchayats have been freed from it and members of Shaurya Dal made efforts for their rehabilitation. Members of Shaurya Dal prevented child marriages of 3 girls Neetu, Ranu and Sonu on Akshya Tritiya timely through persuasion of their parents. Child marriages of 3 girls were also prevented at village Jahangirpura.
In Tikamgarh district’s village Kachhiyakhera, members of Shaurya Dal got freed 70 acre government land from possession of musclemen by giving tip-off to district administration. Due to pressure mounted by Shaurya Dal, government school at village Malguwan now opens on time and children are pursuing education there. At village Petpura in the same districts, members of scheduled castes were not allowed to enter temple. Following persuasion, every villager can now visit temple.
In Mandla district’s village Bargaon, Parwati Bai was fed up with boozing of her husband Ganga Ram. Shaurya Dal intervened and de-addicted Ganga Ram following which Parwati Bai’s family is leading a peaceful life. Inder Kurche of village Kajarwara resolved to shun liquor consumption on counseling by members of Shaurya Dal. Seven child marriages were prevented in Mandla district due to activeness of Shaurya Dal. Members of Shaurya Dal arranged nutritious diet through Bal Kalyan Samiti for 9 years old malnourished girl Shivani living with her grandmother.
In Vidisha district’s village Teelakheri, member of Shaurya Dal Babita not only prevented Pragya Ahirwar from committing suicide due to harassment by mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law in the absence of her husband, but also immediately impressed on her husband to keep her with him. These days, Pragya is living with her children at the place where her husband works.
In Jabalpur district’s village Tilhari, Shaurya Dal prevented brewing of liquor. Similarly, at village Shahpura, malnourished children were admitted to NRC. In Balaghat district’s village Pindkepar, members of Shaurya Dal prevented candidates from distributing liquor and money during election. At village Mohgaon, closed sub-health centre re-opened due to efforts of Shaurya Dal members. Village Machgaon was de-addicted. In Dewas district, 1000 toilets were constructed due to efforts of Shaurya Dal members. Shaurya Dal also played important role in preventing 13 child marriages at Sonkucch and Diggiraja towns.
