Plaint filed against Raman for ‘disproportionate assets

Accusing the former Chief Minister and BJP national vice-president Raman Singh of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income during his 15-year regime, District Congress president (rural), Rajnandgaon, Nawaj Ahmed Khan filed a complaint before the Economic Offence Wing (EOW), Raipur.

The Congress leader, in the application filed before Superintendent of Police EOW, claimed that Singh had committed ‘financial irregularities’ when he was chief minister and had amassed properties disproportionate to his known source of income.

“I have gathered information under Right to Information Act-2005 and according to declaration of assets by Singh before the Election Commission his assets had increased many fold”, the complainant claimed in the application.

In separate declarations made by Singh for assembly elections in years 2008, 2013 and 2018, it was seen that assets of the former chief minister and members of his family had increased many-fold and under the relevant sections of corruption prevention act a case must be registered against him, the Congress leader demanded.
