Over 50 thousand licensed weapons deposited

Bhopal: During last 6 days, 50 thousand 310 licensed weapons have been deposited in Madhya Pradesh since promulgation of model code of conduct. As many as 24 illegal firearms have been seized and licenses of 80 weapons have been cancelled. So far, 5 thousand 645 non-bailable warrants have been issued in the state. During last 24 hours, 1298 non-bailable warrants have been issued. Similarly 404 illegal weapons have been seized. Police has seized 90 weapons during last 24 hours.

Large-scale security and law & order arrangements have been made to ensure peace during elections in the state. Action has been taken against sections 107/116 of CRPC against 806 persons so far. In police action, 22 kg explosives and 76 live cartridges have been seized. Flying squads have started visits since promulgation of model code of conduct. The flying squads have seized Rs. 11 lakh 47 thousand 370 cash and other material in districts. Other police agencies have also seized Rs. 8,045 cash/other material. So far, 30 complaints have been received regarding cash. Flying squads have received 21 complaints regarding violation of model code of conduct. Action has been taken on these complaints.
Static surveillance team (SST) has seized Rs. 55 lakh 315 cash so far. The SST has also seized other material worth Rs. 16 lakh 66 thousand 430.
