Over 26 Thousands Contractual Teachers Appointed in One and a Half Year

For improving quality of education in the state, many innovative steps have been taken by the government and vacant posts of teachers have been filled, said an official release.

Since January 1, 2009, nearly 26 thousand 640 contractual teachers have been recruited, release said.

They include 1706 grade-1 contractual teachers, 12 thousand 12 grade-II contractual teachers and 12 thousand 820 grade-III contractual teachers.

In all, 73.58 vacant posts of grade-I, 53.08 percent of grade-II and 80.98 per cent vacant posts of grade-III have been filled.

Besides, the state government has given special attention to extending facilities of education to the rural areas.

On the initiative of School Education Minister Archana Chitnis, the process of appointing contractual teachers has been undertaken in all the 50 districts of the state.

In Sidhi, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Sagar and Katni, 170, 94, 87, 73 and 64 contractual teachers have been appointed respectively, which is more than other districts.

Under grade-II contractual teacher category, maximum 682 teachers have been appointed in Sagar district followed by Betul (668), Sidhi (604), Hoshangabad (489) and Rajgarh (469).

Under grade-III category, maximum appointments (620) have been made in Barwani followed by Chhindwara (517), Bhind (444) AND Alirajpur (410). Hundred per cent posts were filled in Alirajpur.

The districts with maximum percentage of vacant posts of all the categories have been filled include Betul (90.46 per cent), Panna (88.19 per cent), Alirajpur (85.15 per cent), Rajgarh (84.96 per cent) and Morena (84.04 per cent).
