No one will survive if farmers do not survive: CM
Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that no one will survive if farmers do not survive since country cannot function if farming dies down. This is the factual position. That is why the state government is committed to making agriculture profitable. The Chief Minister was addressing a farmers’ convention at Shajapur today. He said that crop insurance worth Rs. 209 crore will be given to farmers of Shajapur district. Of this, Rs. 102 crore has been distributed.
The Chief Minister dedicated and laid foundation stones of development works costing over Rs. 71 crore at Shajapur. He announced Rs. 70 crore for construction of underground sewerage system at Shajapur. The Chief Minister said that the state government will provide built-up houses to the poor. In the first phase of this campaign, houses will be provided to 1000 poor families in Shajapur district. The Chief Minister also announced construction of new bus stand in the city. Shri Chouhan announced development Kanja Pahadi as industrial area. The Chief Minister also announced Rs. 94 lakh for separate shades for fruit and vegetable sellers and other infrastructure development works at Shajapur Krishi Upaj Mandi.
The Chief Minister said that survey work at Lakhundar and Kali Sindh river will be conducted soon so solve drinking water problem of people of Shajapur city. He said that rain gauge equipments will be installed at every village in the district.
Dialogue with farmers
The Chief Minister held direct dialogue with farmers at the convention. He said that the farmers who are well-to-do should pay bank loan and electricity bills. He informed about measures taken by the state government in the interest of farmers. Shri Chouhan put forth 6 proposals before farmers at the convention which would be implemented with their consent. Shri Chouhan said that Soil Health Cards will be distributed to all farmers by year 2017. He said that temporary power connections will be converted to permanent connections in next 2 and half years at a cost of Rs. 5000 crore. He announced 80 percent subsidy on solar irrigation pumps for farmers. Referring to amendment in Land Revenue Code, he said that now land can be leased out for farming for more than one year with mutual consent.
CM’s city visit
The Chief Minister passed through roads of the city in open Jeep. He also apprised himself of people’s problems. Minister in-charge of Shajapur district Shri Paras Jain, MP Shri Manohar Untwal and Shajapur MLA Shri Arun Bhimawad were also present on the occasion.
