Loan of every eligible farmer to be waived: CM Kamal Nath

Nath said that the crop loan waivers scheme is included in the topmost priority of the government

Bhopal: Chief Minister Kamal Nath has directed to ensure that the loan of every eligible farmer under Jai Kisan Crop Loan Waiver Scheme is waived. He said that the farmers on whose
names fake loans have been taken can now come forward fearlessly, government will do justice and punish the guilty. Nath was reviewing the progress of crop loan waiver scheme at
Mantralaya on Thursday. Cooperatives and General Administration Minister Dr. Govind Singh, Farmers-Welfare an Agriculture Development Minister Sachin Yadav, Chief Secretary SR
Mohanty and senior officers of Finance, Agriculture and Cooperatives Department were present in the meeting.
Nath said that the crop loan waivers scheme is included in the topmost priority of the government. He said that the benefits of the scheme should reach every farmer who falls under the
periphery of the scheme. He expressed displeasure over the cases of fake loans taken in the names of farmers. He appealed to the farmers that if their names have been misused to take
out fake loan they should come forward without any fear as the government stands with them. He directed in the meeting to take serious note of the fake loan cases and get it
investigated minutely. Stern action will be taken against those found guilty.
It was told at the meeting that 50 lakh 61 thousand applications have been filled under loan waiver scheme. Out of these 45 lakh 9 thousand are online applications. The process of loan
waiver will be completed till February 22 and the process of depositing the amount in the farmer’s accounts will begin. Under the scheme, loans of small and marginal farmers will be waived
on priority.
