Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s Neiphiu Rio and National People’s Party chief Conrad Sangma took take oath as a Nagaland and Meghalaya chief ministers respectively today in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Besides PM Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda also attended the swearing-in ceremony of both the chief ministers.
Conrad Sangma took oath as the CM of Meghalaya for the second consecutive term. While, Nagaland political stalwart and its longest-serving chief minister Neiphiu Rio assumed office for a fifth consecutive term after the convincing win.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the oath-taking ceremony of new Meghalaya chief minister in Shillong on Tuesday. NPP leader Conrad Sangma took oath as chief minister of the state for his second term.
Sangma was sworn in along with 11 members of his council of ministers. Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, both from the NPP, took oath as deputy chief ministers, underlining the strength of the regional party in the rainbow coalition which has come to power.
Rio will be leading an all-party government with no opposition in the state after all the parties extended their letters of support to the Rio-led alliance
BJP’s Manik Saha, too, will take oath as the chief minister of the saffron party- led alliance government in Tripura on Thursday, a day after Holi.
