Several dead in Hamburg Jehovah’s Witnesses shooting

Several people were killed and number of people were injured after shots were fired inside a building used by Jehovah’s Witnesses in the northern German city of Hamburg on Thursday evening , police said.

 

“We only know that several people died here; several people are wounded, they were taken to hospitals,” police spokesman Holger Vehren said of the shooting in the Gross Borstel district of Germany’s second-biggest city.

 

He said he had no information on the severity of the injuries suffered by the wounded.

While police in Hamburg have declined to say how many people have been killed they believe that the gunman was among the dead.

Newspaper Bild reported that seven people had been killed and eight more injured after the shooting, but the official death toll is yet to be confirmed by police.

Other local outlets have reported there being six victims.

“My deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” Hamburg mayor Peter Tschentscher wrote on Twitter in German yesterday.
