More than 2 lakh licensed weapons deposited

Bhopal: Since enforcement of model code of conduct in Madhya Pradesh, 2 lakh 4 thousand 492 licensed weapons have been deposited. During last 24 hours, 14 thousand 523 licensed weapons have been got deposited by district administration and police. As many as 234 illegal firearms have been seized and licenses of 231 weapons have been cancelled.
So far, 14 thousand 523 non-bailable warrants have been issued of which 1011 were issued in last 24 hours. Similarly, 1954 illegal weapons have been seized. Police has seized 88 weapons during last 24 hours.
Large-scale security and law & order arrangements have been made to ensure peace during elections in the state. Action has been taken under sections 107/116 of CrPC against 74 thousand 261 persons so far and 36 thousand 778 persons have been bound over. Action was taken against 1656 persons for violating this provision. In police action, 333 kg explosives of various types have been seized. Besides, 251 live cartridges have also been seized.
In the state, 6 thousand 622 Majras have been identified under vulnerable mapping. Similarly, 19 thousand 110 who can influence elections have also been identified.
