Madhya Pradesh polls: Postal ballots found in MP PHQ canteen

Assembly poll officials are succumbing to pressure from the ruling party that is apprehensive of defeat: MP Congress

Bhopal: Raising the issue of postal ballots being found lying in the Police Headquarters canteen, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday reiterated its allegation – regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party perpetrating irregularities in the run-up to counting on December 11 – and demanded that the Election Commission forthwith order an inquiry.
“The assembly poll officials are succumbing to pressure from the ruling party that is apprehensive of defeat. The likelihood of such acts being perpetrated in other districts cannot be ruled out,” a release said.
Earlier, two petitions were filed on Tuesday in the Madhya Pradesh High Court in connection with EVMs used in the state assembly polls held on November 2.
Congress leader Naresh Saraf sought direction from the high court to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities in the handling of reserve electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Bhopal, Satna, Sagar, Shahjapur and Khandwa.
