I feel pain if a thorn pricks a farmers foot: CM

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the state government will make every possible effort to help farmers tide over crisis. He said that he feels pain when a thorn pricks farmer’s foot. Shri Chouhan was held public dialogue with farmers and people at village Pathari Kalan, Majmani Kalan, Dongargawa and Taman Nara in Akashkot area of Umaria district today. He was accompanied by SC and ST Welfare Minister Shri Gyan Singh and MLA Sushri Meena Singh.

On villagers’ demand, the Chief Minister announced to upgrade primary school of village Dongargawan to middle school and middle school of village Majmani to high school.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will give every possible assistance to drought affected farmers. He said that remaining relief worth Rs. 88 crore will be distributed in the area within a week. He informed that the state government will bear interest on loans taken by drought affected farmers. Till next crop, affected farmers will be provided food grains on subsidized rates and Rs. 25 thousand assistance each will be given for marriage of their daughters.

Shri Chouhan also directed for survey loss to local crops of kodu-kutki and Ramtil. He said that food processing plant will be set up to promote these crops and provide better prices to farmers. On being informed by farmers about damage by caterpillar to arhar crops, the Chief Minister directed district administration to make available insecticides at 50 percent rates to farmers. The Chief Minister directed to chalk out large schemes for irrigation and drinking water. He directed to replace transformers immediate wherever they become dysfunctional so that there is not disturbance in irrigation and drinking water arrangements. He announced to open ITIs at Karkeli, Manpur and Pali.
