Hold others’ hands with positivity: Governor

In this Covid-19 era, everyone should share each other’s sorrows with positive thoughts and based on an ability support each other, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey said on Wednesday.

The works should be done together for the sake of humanity, he said. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said students should play a vital role in fulfilling the dream of ‘Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ with a holistic and multidimensional development of the state.

The Governor and the Chief Minister were virtually addressing the fifth convocation ceremony of Pandit Sunderlal Sharma (Open) University here, an official communication said.

The Open University can play an important role in enhancing knowledge despite physical distance. It helps those who left education midway, the Governor said.

Quality education in the tribal belts of Bastar-Surguja is being affected due to the vacancy of lecturers and professors in universities and colleges, she said. She patted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel for NAAC grading efforts in the state colleges. The Chief Minister urged the students to provide their talent, energy and all efforts to make Chhattisgarh a prosperous and happy state. Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel said the recruitment process of assistant professors is on across the state.

At the convocation, five students were awarded Doctor of Philosophy. Degrees were awarded to 2,015 students for session 2018-19 and to 10,730 students for session 2019-20. Meritorious students got gold medals.
