Habibganj railway station will soon become the best station of the country
BHOPAL: With an over Rs 50 crore spend on the development and expansion, West Central Railway’s (WCR) Habibganj railway station will be developed as the best station in the country.
According to official sources, Ghanshyam Singh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) informed the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister, Babulal Gaur, about the plan in a recent meeting. Bhopal’s Mayor Krishna Gaur was also present for the meeting, sources said.
WCR is also developing Bhopal railway station as a model station and Rs 16 crore have been earmarked for it.
The foundation stone for the construction of a flyover at Habibganj railway crossing will be laid on November 2, said DRM.
On Gaur’s advice, the DRM has directed officials to include construction of an entry gate on the other entrance to the main Bhopal station like in Chennai and a taxi-stand is also in the plan.
Expansion of platform number one, four and five is also in the list, and the construction of a new, sixth platform will start soon.
