Godhan Nyay scheme has many benefits: CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said that the Godhan Nyay scheme has turned out to be a comprehensive scheme benefitting all categories and people in society.

Apart from protection of livestock, it has promoted organic farming, conserved crops and environment, boosted employment and income generation by women producing vermi compost and other products. He was addressing a virtual event of transfer of instalment of procurement of cow dung to Gauthan committees, women self help groups and individual sellers. A total of Rs 3.07 crores was transferred into bank accounts. The Chief Minister also launched the ‘Godhan Super Compost Mobile App’. He also released a book ‘Baghwani ke Bihan’ (Details of Horticulture), an official communication stated. He said the use of vermicompost and super compost as fertilizers would help reduce the cost of agriculture input and benefit soil fertility. There has been an increase in income of cattle rearers and landless farm workers through sale of cow dung.

Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said that till date Rs 96 crores have been given to beneficiaries for cow dung procurement. Out of 9,950 gauthans sanctioned, 5,590 are active.
