Free election symbols prescribed for Chairpersons and corporators
Bhopal: The State Election Commission has prescribed free election symbols for ensuing elections to municipal corporations/municipalities. As many as 42 symbols have been prescribed for mayors and chairpersons and 34 for corporators. Free election symbols will be in addition to the symbols reserved by Election Commission of India for recognised political parties
Secretary State Election Commission Shri G.P. Shrivastava informed that free election symbols for mayors/chairpersons include tap, key, table fan, balloon, slate, electricity switch, glass, radio, tubelight of pole, stool, gas batti (petromax), road-roller, bus, whistle, pressure cooker, table-lamp, batsman, matka (earthen pitcher), battery-torch, sunflower, Gehun Ki Bali, basket of vegetables, garland, ring, bench, gas cylinder, leaf of peepal, harmonium, hand-driven pump, hand flour mill, bread, table, briefcase, candle, gas stove, door, brush, bat, jug, violin and roller (belan).
The free election symbols for corporators include cake, camera, carrot, kite, coat, ceiling fan, cot (charpai), sewing machine, boat, scooter, jeep, blackboard, telephone, television, cup & plate, banyan tree, letterbox, almirah, hockey & ball, diesel pump, 2 swords & one shield, coconut tree with fruits, scissors, bucket, shirt, frock, cattle, ladies purse, horn, apple, harvesting farmer and press.
