Light & Sound Show focusing on Ujjain commences

Ujjain. Light & Sound Show focusing on Ujjain was started on the eve of first Shahi Snan of Simhastha Mahakubh on the premises of Kothi Palace at Ujjain today. People were enchanted by live demonstration of Ujjain’s historic, ancient and religious importance. Guests also lauded the show.
Chief guest of the function Minister of State for Tourism & Culture Shri Surendra Patwa, Chairman of State Tourism Development Corporation Shri Tapan Bhowmik and Vice Chairman of State Planning Commission Shri Babulal Jain launched the show by pressing a button. MP Dr. Chintamani Malviya, MLA Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, Secretary to CM and MD of Tourism Development Corporation Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, other public representatives and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.

Ujjain’s story since its beginning till date has been summed up in this interesting Light & Sound Show programme of 38 minutes. The programme has been developed at a cost of about Rs. 3 crore. Recently, Tourism Department has also started Light & Sound Show programmes at Indore’s historic Rajwada. Similarly, a laser show is also being introduced at Bhedaghat.

Voice to this Light & Sound Show has been given by professor of history of Delhi University Smt. Suchitra Gupta. In Tandav Nratya, voice has been given by Shri Shankar Mahadevan.

Beauty and significance of Lard Mahakaleshwar’s city Ujjain has attracted a number of poets and writers. Foreign travellers in ancient times have given beautiful accounts of Ujjain. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar dwells here. Both devotees and domestic tourists from all parts of the country and foreign tourists will visit Ujjain. For Simhastha, State Tourism Development Corporation has undertaken several infrastructure works for devotees and tourists’ convenience. These include construction of hotels, public amenities etc.

In view of Simhastha, MP State Tourism Development Corporation has upgraded and expanded Hotel Kshipra and Hotel Avantika. In all, 28 more rooms have been upgraded and 20 room added to Hotel Kshipra. Similarly, in Hotel Avantika, 12 rooms and 2 dormitories (32 beds) have been upgraded and 6 new rooms and 2 dormitories of 8 beds each have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 6 crore.

Similarly, Hotel Ujjayani has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 9 crore. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has inaugurated it recently. In view of Simhastha, State Tourism Development Corporation has set up one main media centre, one major centre, 14 sub-media centres and 2 satellite towns at a cost of Rs. 7 crore. Main media centre has been set up in Dutt Akhada Zone and major centre in Mangalnath Zone.
