State Govt Inks MoU with NHDC to Set up Thermal Power Project

The state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Narmada Hydroelectric Development Corporation (NHDC) Ltd for setting up a thermal power project.

According to MoU signed with NHDC (a joint venture of NTPC and government of Madhya Pradesh) on June 29, 2009, NHDC will establish a 1320 MW thermal power project based on super critical technology within range of Indira Sagar reservoir.

The state government has given its consent for purchasing power generated out of this project.

It may be mentioned that NHDC was given responsibility of construction and conduction of 1000 MW Indira Sagar Project and 520 MW Omkareshwar Project in Narmada basin. The former project was completed in 2004-05 and latter in 2007.

Presently, NHDC is the largest power distribution company in the state, having ISO 9001-2000 certificate.
