Doctors, Paramedics to be Appointed at Bhopal Gas Hospitals

Bhopal  —  Advisory committee of Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department has cleared a proposal for appointment of doctors and paramedical staff in gas hospitals, the move will end the shortage of doctors, senior and specialist physicians and nurses at these facilities.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the advisory committee held chaired by Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Babulal Gaur at the Vidhan Sabha committee hall.

Committee members – MLA Arif Aqeel and MLA Jitendra Daga – were also present on the occasion.

Lauding the contribution of the doctors posted at the various gas relief hospitals, Bhopal (North) MLA Arif Aqueel said the practitioners should not be sent back to their parent departments.

Principal Secretary Gas Relief SR Mohanty informed the meeting that there is no proposal to repatriate the services of these doctors to their parent department – the doctors have been detailed to the gas relief department by the state health department.

He said that part-time medical consultants would be appointed to fill the positions lying vacant at the relief facilities.

Bhopal (Huzoor) MLA Jitendra Daga apprised himself of the prevailing situations at gas relief hospitals and dispensaries.

The meeting was informed that 10 tonnes of lime slug out of 350 metric tonnes of waste lying in Union Carbide factory has been disposed of by burying it in Pithampur. There is no adverse effect of it in this area.

The rest of wastes will be disposed of in a safe and scientific manner as per guidelines of the Supreme Court.
