Complete Narmada-Malwa Project on top priority: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to complete Narmada-Malwa Project on top priority. Under the project, Narmada river will be linked with Gambhir, Parwati and Kali Sindh rivers. In the first phase Narmada-Kshipra Link Project has been almost completed. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was reviewing activities of Narmada Valley Development Department here today. He directed to undertake testing of Narmada-Kshipra Link Project and prepare for its inauguration. Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa was also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan reviewed under-construction irrigation projects of Narmada Valley Development Department. He said that actual assessment of energy consumption in Narmada-Kshipra Link Project should be made. Lining work of project’s canals should be completed within time-limit. He directed that departmental superintending engineers should do constant monitoring.

It was informed that the department has planned to increase irrigation potential by 6 lakh hectare during next 5 years. As many as 150 villages in Indore, Ujjain and Dewas districts will be benefited by Narmada-Kshipra Link Project. From Narmada-Malwa Project, irrigation facility will be available in about 50 thousand hectare in 153 villages. The meeting also discussed Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Man, Jobat, Bargi Diversion, Punasa Lift Irrigation and Upper Narmada projects. Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish, CM’s Principal Secretary Shri Manoj Shrivastava and other departmental officers attended the meeting.
