Health cards of gas-affected people to be prepared in door-to-door survey

Bhopal: Health cards will be made available to gas-affected persons of Bhopal city in four months through door-to-door survey. Health cards have so far been issued to 80 thousand gas-affected persons for treatment at gas relief hospitals. This information was given at the meeting of departmental advisory committee chaired by Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Relief & Rehabilitation Minister Shri Babulal Gaur. Committee’s members and MLAs Shri Arif Aqueel, Shri Ramgarib Kol and Shri Ranjit Singh Gunwan, Principal Secretary Shri Praveer Krishna, Commissioner Shri M.K. Varshney and other officers were present on the occasion.
On the members’ suggestion, Minister Shri Gaur directed to fill up vacant posts in gas relief hospitals at the earliest. He also directed to enforce dress code strictly in gas relief hospitals.
It was informed at the meeting that 104 new doctors have been posted in gas relief hospitals. Hospitals are being computerised with the assistance of NIC. Inauguration of newly built ward in Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital and counselling of patients regarding free distribution of medicines in hospitals will be undertaken soon. A letter will be written to the Union Government regarding early establishment of ICMR centre at Bhopal.
The department is imparting training in various trades to 3415 gas-affected beneficiaries through 14 institutes. Of them, 972 have established self-employment.
