Although the Covid-19 positivity rate in Chhattisgarh on Monday dipped to 0.8 percent, the police have started fining motorists without masks.

Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), told the media that there was laxity on the part of people in adhering to Covid approproate behaviour. This includes wearing masks, keeping social distance and using sanitizers.

Of the 22,479 samples tested, only 188 persons were found Covid positive and the positivity rate in Chhattisgarh was 0.8 percent, he said.

Directives have been given to initiate action, he said. The traffic police are now fining motorists for not wearing masks, Dr Mishra said.

It has been found that now people are not approaching to get themselves tested even after having symptoms of Covid-19, he added. He said the districts of Korba, Surguja and Korea have reported higher positive cases.
