CM to send letters of thanks to people partnering in upkeep of malnourished children

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that eradication of malnutrition is top priority of the state government. Further efforts should be made towards this with community participation. Number of daycare centres in anganwadis can also be increased as per requirement. Shri Chouhan reviewed Women & Child Development Department’s activities here today. On the occasion, he launched E-Ladli Yojana by presenting first printout of certificate of Rs. one lakh 18 thousand to little girl Aishwarya Jagnani. He also distributed certificates to Awaiza Khan, Divyanshi Wadhwani, Nandini Kushwaha and Lalita Mali. Ladli Laxmi Yojana’s folder and poster were also released. W&CD Minister Smt. Maya Singh and Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa were also present.

The Chief Minister said that increase of community participation in curbing malnutrition is a matter of happiness. It should be encouraged further. He directed to send letters of thanks to all 5,700 persons who cooperated in improvement in condition of extremely underweight children through Sneh Sarokar programme and issue an appeal for maximum participation of people in this process. He said that community functions should be held to inform the society about public welfare schemes. He directed to distribute amounts under Ladli Laxmi Yojana to 40 thousand girls who have taken admission in class VI after passing class V under by holding programmes.

Shri Chouhan said that functions to celebrate birth of girl child should be held. He directed to ensure that no child in the state begs. Under guidance of district collectors, local bodies, Women & Child Development and Social Justice departments should conduct a special drive under joint action plan for rehabilitation of malnourished children. He laid special emphasis on monitoring of reporting of registered and benefited beneficiaries under departmental schemes. He said that registered and benefited beneficiaries should be cross checked regularly.

He stressed the need for spread of health education of rural women and girls in coordination with Health Department. He said that efforts should be made to develop positive mindset and awareness to prevent child marriages. He also stressed the need for increasing academic level of girls. It would also curb tendency of marriage in tender age. He directed to examine a proposal for providing transport facility to students of nearby areas upto nearest Institute for Excellence in Education for increasing availability and utility of resources for quality education. He also directed to explore possibility of participation of private sector in running girls hostels.

The meeting was informed that tracking of girls covered by Ladli Laxmi Yojana should be done upto age of 21 years for their better health, higher education, marriage etc. So far, 20 lakh girls have been benefited with Ladli Laxmi Yojana. Seven states of the country have replicated the scheme. Women and Child Development Department has been conferred SKOCH Platinum Award 2014, Prime Minister Public Services Excellence Award 2013-14, Times of India Social Impact Award 2014. During Suposhan Abhiyan, 12 thousand 873 camps were held due to which positive changes have been developed by over 94 percent children.

Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary Women & Child Development Shri J.N. Kansotiya, Secretary to CM Shri Vivek Agrawal, Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava and Commissioner Integrated Child Development Smt. Pushplata Singh were also present in the review meeting.
