CM to make aerial survey of Narmada and Kshipra

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will make an aerial survey of proposed Narmada-Kshipra Simhastha Link Project on September 1. This ambitious project will give a new lease of life to Kshipra and other nearby rivers. Madhya Pradesh will be the first state in the country to link rivers under the scheme for ensuring flow of water in them throughout the year.
Under the project, water of Omkareshwar project canal will be brought to Sesliya reservoir in Khargone district. From here, five million cubic meter Narmada water will be released to a reservoir at Ujjaini village in Indore district. There is a proposal to supply Narmada water from Ujjaini through Jeejalwanti water course for upto 50 kilometers to Kshipra river. Work to revive Kshipra river will commence from there. The project will not only solve drinking water problem of Dewas and Ujjain districts, but will also given an opportunity to lakhs of devotees to take a bath in flowing water in the Kshipra river on the occasion of Simhastha.
