Slamming Patna HC, SC Dismisses Bail of RJD Leader Pappu Yadav

The Supreme Court has dismissed the bail granted to former parliamentarian and RJD leader Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav in the Ajit Sarkar murder case, snubbing the Patna High Court for infringement of its order, reported PTI.

The apex court observed that the decision of the high court amounted to contempt of its previous order clearly restraining any court in the country from granting bail to Yadav, report said.

“It is a matter of regret that despite clear order passed by this court in 2007 that no bail should be granted by any court, the High Court has gone ahead and granted bail,” a bench comprising Justices Markandey Katju and A K Patnaik observed while allowing an appeal filed by the CBI seeking cancellation of the bail.
