CM Baghel changes social media display profile, wearing face mask to create awareness

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday changed his display profile (DP) on social medial platform, wearing a mask to create awareness among people, after his government made it mandatory to wear masks in public places, before stepping out of their homes.

More than 17,000 followers have ‘liked’ the CM’s DP on social media platform Facebook.

Baghel in a tweet said: “Each person of the state should wear a mask while venturing out into a public place, which has been made mandatory.

“On advice of medical experts, for prevention and containment of COVID-19, wearing a mask by a person is necessary.”

The state public health and family welfare department had on April 11, issued an order making it mandatory for all the people of the state to wear a mask or cover their face.

The provisions of the Epidemic Act, 1897, the Chhattisgarh Epidemic Diseases Covid-19 Ordinance, 2020, and the Chhattisgarh Public Health Act, 1949, Section 71 (1) have been invoked.

Without wearing a mask or covering the face with other materials, will be considered as violation of the rules, which is liable for legal action, the said.

As per the order, triple-layered mask available in market or home-made triple-layer cloth mask or face cover or any other cloth can be used to cover the face, mainly the nose and mouth.

Even a handkerchief can also be used for the purpose, the order said, adding that the homemade mask or face cover can be washed with soap and re-used once the person returns home.
