C’garh CM transfers over Rs 1,100 cr to farmers

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday praised the Chhattisgarh Government for implementing welfare schemes as Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred Rs 1,104 crores to 19 lakh farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.

Gandhi said the Chhattisgarh Government was at the forefront of helping farmers, the poor and labourers and the state government was ensuring justice for every section of the society.

Gandhi while addressing the mega fund transfer event through virtual mode, heaped praise on Bhupesh Baghel and claimed his party would always stand by farmers.

With the latest transfer of Rs 1,104 crore, a total of Rs 5,628 crores have been provided to the farmers in the State since the Congress returned to power in the State in late 2018.

Gandhi while speaking in details at the fund transfer event said that farmers in the country were in crisis as the Central government is focusing on benefitting capitalists and industrialists while the Chhattisgarh government is working towards the welfare of farmers, the poor, labourers and small traders.

“I am delighted to say that we have fulfilled the promise of loan waiver, irrigation tax waiver and giving fair price to the farmers for their produce,” Baghel said on the occasion.

He said the Godhan Nyay Yojana is being appreciated all over the country. So far, nearly 44 lakh quintals of cow dung have been procured under the scheme, in lieu of which Rs 88 crores have been paid to the vendors, livestock owners and villagers.
