Madhya Pradesh to be No. 1 in Ease of Doing Business

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh will be made number one in Ease of Doing Business. Rules, laws and processes in the state will be simplified to boost industry and business. Unnecessary permissions will be abolished. The Chief Minister was addressing inaugural session of a workshop on Ease of Doing Business at Academy of Administration here today.

Shri Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is ahead of all big states in the country in growth rate. Increase in per capita income is also highest in Madhya Pradesh in the country. The state has performed outstandingly in agriculture sector. Its agriculture growth rate is highest not only in the country, but entire world. Now, attention is being paid to increasing investment in industries along with agriculture. Industrial growth is necessary for state’s prosperity. Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the best investment destination in the country and world. Industrial world’s trust in the state is increasing.

The Chief Minister said that single-door policy has been implemented for industries in the state. Processes have been simplified and labour laws improved. Self-declaration facility has also been introduced in the state. Despite these efforts, there is still scope for improvement. During his meeting with industrialists every Monday, several issues come to the fore which can be disposed of simply at administrative level. He said that administration should work by having trust in investors coming to the state. Whatever better is being implemented under Ease of Doing Business in other countries and states, should be implemented in the state. Efforts should be made in right earnest. This workshop will prove to be a unique experiment in this regard.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s concern about India finding a lower place in Ease of Doing Business, Shri Chouhan said that 98 points have been identified for improving Ease of Doing Business. The workshop should discuss all these points and give suggestions which become examples for country and world.

Commerce & Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia said that Make in MP has been launched for industrial development in the state. Single-door policy has been implemented for investors. Better atmosphere for investment has been developed in the state. This workshop has been held to ensure smooth investment and trade. The state will work effectively under Ease of Doing Business.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa informed about objectives of the workshop. He informed that 150 issues have been identified for Ease of Doing Business in the state to which attention will be paid. Ministers, heads of departments, field officers and representatives of industries and trade associations are participating in the workshop. As many as 18 sessions on different issues will be held at the workshop. Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Academy of Administration’s Director-General Shri I.S. Dani and Principal Secretary Commerce & Industries Shri Mohammad Sulaiman were also present.

Open discussions in different groups were held at the workshop on industry, business & employment, labour, pollution control, urban development and environment, science & technology, Panchayats & rural development, finance and commercial taxes, farmers welfare & agriculture development, food & civil supplies, health & family welfare, energy & renewable energy, higher and school education and revenue. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also participated in these discussions.
